Marvin Tolth 2014 SNFR by WT Bruce

Contrary to what some people may believe, the sport of rodeo is not just for the young, but also the young at heart. For any cowboy or cowgirl who finds themselves age 40 or older, the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association, also known as the NSPRA, offers the chance to continue competing on the big stage. Whether it’s calf roping, steer wrestling, bareback riding, or barrel racing, any senior cowboy or cowgirl who still has the passion for the sport can find themselves hearing the cheers of the crowd as they vie for a championship.

Entry Requirements

In addition to being 40 years of age or older, competitors wanting to participate in the Senior National Finals Rodeo, or SNFR, which is scheduled for October 28-31, 2015 at Horseman’s Park in Las Vegas, need to meet certain requirements including:

  • Compete in five regular-season rodeos
  • Finish among top points earners in your event during the regular-season
  • Rough stock events take top fifteen competitors
  • Timed events take top thirty competitors

With media coverage from the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, Ak-Chin Indian Community, and the Earnhardt Auto Road Team, the NSPRA promises to only grow in its popularity.

National Senior Pro Rodeo Association History

Originally known as the National Old Timers Rodeo Association, the NSPRA has grown into an organization that is recognized the world over for its integrity and great history of competition. With a Hall of Fame that currently boasts 64 members; the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association has been responsible for preserving the heritage, traditions, and accomplishments of those who blazed the trail for rodeo to become what it is today.

Senior National Finals Rodeo

The SNFR is one competition that any cowboy or cowgirl will be excited about. Since many competitors have been in 30-40 rodeos throughout the year, the level of competition is as precise and fierce as ever. No matter what event a senior wants to participate in, they are sure to experience a thrilling four days as they go up against some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the world. What makes the SNFR so competitive is the fact that it has 10 events with 29 age groups striving to win a championship. Whether they win a world championship or not, there’s little doubt any senior cowboy or cowgirl won’t give it all they’ve got along the way. So when the family wants to go see some of rodeo’s famous founders go at it again with a world title on the line, the Senior National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas is the place to be to witness all this and more.
