Ontario Rodeo Finals 2014 in Ancaster, Ontario

Written by

Ontario Rodeo Association ORA

In 1957, the Ontario Rodeo Association (ORA) was founded in Dundas, Ontario at the Bar 11 Ranch. The purpose of ORA is the promotion of Ontario rodeo. ORA also set out to create a standard set of rules that rodeo cowboys would follow. In addition to this, rules were also created in an effort to prevent the animals used in rodeos from being treated inhumanely.

What events are featured in the Ontario Rodeo Finals?

As cowboys work their way up the rodeo ranks, ORA works in conjunction with the Ontario High School Rodeo Association and the Roping Association of Ontario. At the present time, rodeos have ladies barrel racing, steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, team roping, tie-down roping and bareback riding as the seven standard events. The optional events are junior barrels, junior steer riding and breakaway riding.
The Ontario Rodeo Finals are the Premier Championships of rodeo in the Province. All of the best cowboys and cowgirls from across Ontario will compete in three rounds of competition in an attempt to win Provincial and Finale prizes and awards.

Both the Provincial Year-end Champion and the Provincial Finals Champion are presented with buckles to commemorate their achievements. All-Around awards and titles are presented to the people who earn the most points in the various events.
