Papa John’s is known for great pizza for delivery or takeout. But it’s more than a place to get a quick pizza fix – company goals for Papa John’s include giving back to the community. This is true not only for the corporate office in Louisville, Kentucky, but also at the pizza chain’s individual stores.
At the corporate level, Papa John’s supports organizations near its headquarters including Junior Achievement, the University of Louisville and the WHAS Crusade for Children. Also based in Louisville, the WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc. was established in 1954 by WHAS-TV and raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to help improve the lives of special needs children.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36774″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” >Witten’s SCORE Foundation. With the Patrick Peterson Special, customers net a five-topping or specialty pizza at a discount price, and a portion of the cost is donated to the Patrick Peterson Foundation. Headed by Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, the Foundation strives to provide opportunities for low-income and inner-city youth to reach their full potential. The Foundation’s focuses include reading, literacy, and providing school supplies and Christmas meals and gifts to local kids.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36265″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Papa John’s supports other local organizations including an annual fundraiser for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Customers enter special codes to receive discounts on their online orders, and Papa John’s donates a portion of the order total to Phoenix Children’s Hospital each year. In 2016, Papa John’s contributed about $30,000 from this fundraiser, according to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36261″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Papa John’s local stores also team up with their communities for fundraisers for schools, sports teams, community groups and more, all part of its efforts to be a good corporate citizen.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Carolyn Sostrom is a long-time Arizona resident who loves desert sunsets, warm weather, Zumba, and the Western lifestyle. She attended Saguaro High School in Scottsdale and then Arizona State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Similarly to the protagonist in *The Devil Wears Prada*, Carolyn moved to New York City right after college. She started working for the fashion magazine company Conde Nast but never transitioned to the dark side. After a few years, she left New York in the rearview mirror and returned to her home state, taking a reporter job at the *Apache Junction Independent*. With over 30 years of freelance writing experience, Carolyn especially enjoys writing about community events and profiling individuals who are making a difference in their communities. She had the pleasure of interviewing a variety of cowboy personalities for an article she wrote for the *Scottsdale Independent* about the history of DC Ranch and its roots as a working ranch. Now, her Western adventures with CLN have her diving into the rugged automotive scene, exploring the trucks and rigs cowboys rely on for work, home, and play, a niche where grit meets horsepower. She works at Raising Special Kids, a nonprofit resource center for families of children with disabilities and special healthcare needs. Carolyn also volunteers with the Autism Society of Greater Phoenix. Carolyn believes that everyone has a story, and she loves connecting with others to hear their stories. She’s dedicated to ethical journalism and accurate reporting, which shines through in her storytelling.
