Papa John’s Gives Back To Local Communities Nationwide

Written by

Papa John’s is known for great pizza for delivery or takeout. But it’s more than a place to get a quick pizza fix – company goals for Papa John’s include giving back to the community. This is true not only for the corporate office in Louisville, Kentucky, but also at the pizza chain’s individual stores.
At the corporate level, Papa John’s supports organizations near its headquarters including Junior Achievement, the University of Louisville and the WHAS Crusade for Children. Also based in Louisville, the WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc. was established in 1954 by WHAS-TV and raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to help improve the lives of special needs children.

Papa John’s is also ready to help when disaster strikes. The company’s efforts include providing food for the hungry or donating money to help. Since 2012, Papa John’s has contributed more than $1 million toward disaster recovery and relief.

Locally, Papa John’s stores help with causes that are important to their individual communities. This season, stores in Dallas, Austin and Waco teamed up with Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten to help children affected by domestic violence. With every “I’m With Witten” extra-large pizza deal ordered online, $1 is donated to Witten’s SCORE Foundation. The foundation provides positive male mentors to boys and girls in domestic violence shelters in Texas.

In Maricopa County Arizona, professional athletes also donate to the community through Papa John’s. With the Patrick Peterson Special, customers net a five-topping or specialty pizza at a discount price, and a portion of the cost is donated to the Patrick Peterson Foundation. Headed by Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, the Foundation strives to provide opportunities for low-income and inner-city youth to reach their full potential. The Foundation’s focuses include reading, literacy, and providing school supplies and Christmas meals and gifts to local kids.

Papa John’s supports other local organizations including an annual fundraiser for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Customers enter special codes to receive discounts on their online orders, and Papa John’s donates a portion of the order total to Phoenix Children’s Hospital each year. In 2016, Papa John’s contributed about $30,000 from this fundraiser, according to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Papa John’s local stores also team up with their communities for fundraisers for schools, sports teams, community groups and more, all part of its efforts to be a good corporate citizen.
