In the days of the Wild West, nothing got people more excited than a rodeo full of bucking broncos and big, bad bulls that wanted no part of their riders. That’s still the case today, as more and more people have found out just how exciting rodeos can be. To keep this wonderful Western tradition alive, Scottsdale will again play host to the Parada del Sol Rodeo for the 62nd consecutive year. Scheduled for February 26-March 1 at WestWorld, this year’s rodeo promises to be bigger and better than ever.
About the Parada del Sol Rodeo
The Scottsdale Parada del Sol Rodeo is the major fundraising activity of Parada del Sol, a nonprofit corporation providing financial and volunteer support to various Scottsdale charities. Numerous community programs, healthcare programs and more benefit from the rodeo, with the proceeds going to help local residents in need.
Rodeo Events and Riders
As with any rodeo, it’s only as good as its competitors. And with this year’s lineup of riders and events, the Scottsdale Parada del Sol Rodeo includes a variety of competitors that will keep the crowd entertained and the broncos bucking each night. To keep the crowd entertained and informed, two of the best rodeo announcers around will be at the microphones. Dan Fowlie, along with Wayne Brooks, will be calling the action during the event.
Bull Fighters Clifford Maxwell and Luke Kraut
Several top bullfighters will also be in action as well, such as:
To keep the bulls hopping after they’ve tossed a rider or two, one of the best barrel men in the business will be on hand. Robbie Hoddges, better known in rodeo circles as “Rockin'” Robbie Hoddges, will lend his talents to the show. And to top it all off, the specialty act promises to bring even more action and excitement to the fans. John Payne, with his “One Armed Bandit and Company” act, will leave the crowd wanting more with his skills and antics.
PRCA Commissioner Karl Stressman with CLN’s Crystal Rae Coddington and Patrick OD O’Donnell
The Wrangler Champions Challenge Rodeo will be held on Feb. 26th at 7 p.m. The Scottsdale PRCA Pro Bulls is on Feb. 27th at 7 p.m. The PRCA Pro Rodeo is happening on Feb. 28th at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., The PRCA Pro Rodeo on Sunday, March 1st will be held at 2 p.m. and a rodeo dance being held Saturday night at Handlebar J’s. With all this to offer, there’s little doubt the 2015 Scottsdale Parada del Sol Rodeo will be the best one yet (The 62nd Annual Parada del Sol Rodeo Parade and Kick Off Party at Hogs N’ Horses sure was)! With general admission being only $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for those ages 5 and under, it’s an ideal way for a family to enjoy some quality time together while having some excitement and helping a good cause all at the same time.
