Saddle up

Students can sign up for any high school rodeo events: bareback riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping, barrel racing, pole bending, saddle bronc riding, and bull riding. They will train with livestock and utilize training machines generously provided by Smarty Supply Co.

โ€œThis is going to be a chance not only for young people to learn arena skills from the absolute best but also life lessons to help them in the arena,โ€ said Justin McKee, Cowboy Channel anchor and The Western Legacy Project board member. McKee said the studentsโ€™ experience would also โ€œhelp them get to know the Lord a bit betterโ€ฆ and make some great memories.โ€

Instructors

The Parker County Cowboy Camp instructors are committed to mentoring youth in and out of the arena. The 2025 instructors boast a combined 144 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and National Finals Breakaway Roping qualifications and 24 World Championships. These PRCA and WPRA professionals have competed at the highest level and are eager to guide the next generation of rodeo athletes.

โ€œIโ€™m so proud to be able to team up with the Western Legacy project and this star-studded group of champions in, and more importantly, out of the arena,โ€ said Stran Smith, NFR World Champion Calf Roper and The Western Legacy Project board member. โ€œThis is a perfect opportunity that we have here- to be able to love on these kids, spend time with them, let them know how much we care about them, and then we can challenge them.โ€
