[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If cowboys and cowgirls in Iowa want to experience the thrills and spills associated with bull riding, then there’s no better place to be than the Des Moines Invitational. Taking place from April 23-24 at the Wells Fargo Arena, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever. For fans of professional bull riders, the excitement levels will be through the roof, as the world’s top 35 professional bull riders will find their way to Des Moines in hopes of taking home the top prize.
As with most PBR events, there will be extensive media coverage in order to satisfy the growing number of fans the sport is attracting. For the Des Moines Invitational, some of the media at the event will include the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, Ak-Chin Indian Community, and Earnhardt Auto Centers Road Team, which will provide expert analysis and in-depth coverage for fans across the world.

As usual, there will be many of the world’s top competitors in Iowa looking to tame the rough and tough bulls. Among these will be last year’s winner J.B. Mauney, who as a two-time PBR champion is expected to be hard to beat. In addition to Mauney, others scheduled to compete include three-time world champion Silvano Alves, J.W. Harris, Matt Triplett, and Nathan Schaper.

For fans who want to have the experience of a lifetime at this year’s Des Moines Invitational, the PBR Elite Seats option can make their dreams come true. Located in one of the most exclusive parts of the Wells Fargo Arena near the chutes, these seats cost $350 but provide an experience that won’t soon be forgotten. Among the activities included in this VIP experience are a pre-event reception complete with refreshments, a backstage tour which includes a PBR 101 presentation, and a meet-and-greet with some of the top professional bull riders who will be competing on Saturday and Sunday.

With these riders sitting on top of angry bulls that weigh more than 2,000 pounds, there’s no doubt this year’s event will provide two days of non-stop action each day. Showcasing their talents and skills, the goal of each rider will be to earn enough points to qualify for the World Finals, which will be held in Las Vegas in November. But before getting there, they’ll have to survive two days of grueling competition at the Des Moines Invitational, where they will hope to avoid jaw-dropping wrecks in order to come away with the championship.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Peter Varlet’s the cowboy critic you love to hate, until he’s right. Born during a thunderstorm in 1972 in Bismarck, North Dakota, he grew up watching his WWII vet dad battle to save their farm from corporate claws. Now, Peter’s the unapologetic voice of Western culture, with a historian’s grip on America’s past, acknowledging both its heroes and hypocrites. His truth to power articles are a no-holds-barred zone for rodeo reviews, cowboy movie takedowns, and ranching tricks that work. He’ll tell you why your country singer’s a fraud and how to fix a fence with only baling wire and spite. Peter despises corporate factory farms taking over and cherishes the DIY grit of real Americans. Politically correct? Nope. Trustworthy? Damn straight. He’s saving the West, one brutal truth at a time.
