PBR Coming in Hot for Kansas City’s Caterpillar Classic

Written by

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Since 2002, bull riding fans along the Kansas-Missouri border have packed the house at Kansas City’s Sprint Center to watch the best in the business rain fire in the arena. This year’s Kansas City’s Caterpillar Classic’s Unleash The Beast contest on Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, is setting up to be dramatic!

First, there’s J.B. Mauney just coming off of the win at Little Rock’s Bad Boy Mowdown. Skepticism was high given the fan favorite’s injury status and recent performances riding with a broken leg especially after a disappointing out in RFD-TV’s The American Semi-Finals, but up in the heat is where Mauney shines. His Little Rock performance tied him with Mike Lee’s record for highest number of qualified rides.

Meanwhile, in Broadus, Montana, Jess Lockwood is poised to make his comeback after suffering a broken collar bone in Arlington, Texas, during the PBR Global Cup. At home, doing chores during an exceptionally brutal winter, Lockwood has tested his health doing chores on his family cattle operation.

“It was a little sore after the first time but seemed better after the second. I’m waiting on confirmation from Dr. Tandy Freeman before I make the final decision to enter Kansas City,” Lockwood, the 2017 PBR World Champion said. “I haven’t ridden since the break happened on Wild Goose, but don’t really feel like I’d need to.”

Look for a “locked and loaded” battle for the top from the two top hand contestants.

The weekend is forecast to be mild, sunny and dry so smooth driving or flying to your seats at the Caterpillar Classic on your dependable, quiet Cooper Tires.
