Pendleton Roundup 2015 Highlights

Written by

Wow. Has the Pendleton Roundup really come and gone? Heck, we can still see Caleb Bennett taking the bareback championship in 2014 and hear the sweet sounds of Old Dominion and Big & Rich burning holes in the floor. There wasn’t a cowboy or cowgirl standing still. From the Happy Canyon Night Show to calf roping, 2014 gave us one great event after another. So, it’s no surprise the PRCA Pro Rodeo turned in another memorable event.
The year’s wildest rodeo went down, as always, in Oregon at the Pendleton Round-Up Stadium. Folks traveled from as far as Texas and Canada to see an exhibition of culture that celebrates our rich frontier history, and that every cowboy and cowgirl continues to embrace. And the Cowboy Lifestyle Network (CLN) was on hand covering every second.
We loved the Dress Up and Westward Ho! parades. Dress Up is always impressive, with the Pendleton High School Band and the Children’s Rodeo performing alongside floats. Westward Ho!’s tribute to frontier travel had participants riding horseback and in covered wagons. And though the PRCA Pro Rodeo is about the toughest of the tough, it’s great to see everyone show up for Tough Enough to Wear Pink, an event that highlights the impact of breast cancer and celebrates its survivors. This year’s concert featured American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and Jackson Michelson, an Oregon cowboy that’s touring and blowing up venues all over the country.
Thankfully, with the backing of its supporters and CLN, 2015 proved the show gets bigger and better. Trevor Brazile took home his fourth consecutive Round-Up championship title, while Ty Breuer won an eighth title in the rodeo competition. Tie-down roper J.C. Malone won his championship with a 10.6 second catch of his calf. Still fresh to the sport at 21, Sage Steele Kimzey took the bull by the horn and walked away with a bull riding gold buckle. And cowgirl Kimmie Wall of Utah won two events in the barrel racing competitions.
Since 1910, thousands and tens of thousands have shown up for the rodeo. With the support of the community, local businesses and the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, the PRCA Pro Rodeo has kept the frontier alive in Oregon with picturesque spectacles, bringing every cowgirl and cowboy out to prove their mettle in bareback riding, barrel racing, roping, relay races and bull riding. If you want to know more, check out the Pendleton Round-Up’s official site, or head over to the Cowboy Lifestyle Network website. CLN has the entire scoop so you don’t miss a moment!
