Poway Rodeo 2019

Poway Rodeo has risen from humble origins, as the fruit of the long labor and struggle of 2 Poway Valley Riders Association members, John Walker, and Jack Miller, to become one of the premier PRCA Pro Rodeo events in the state of California.

First inaugurated in 1973, Poway Rodeo has continued to grow into a mainstay attraction in California. It is now attended by thousands and is taking place on September 27 & 28 this year.

But what exactly can you expect to enjoy during your stay in the town of Poway?

The Poway Rodeo being an official PRCA Pro Rodeo will feature the usual gamut of PRCA events, including:

  • Bareback Riding
  • Tie-Down Roping
  • Saddle Bronc Riding
  • Steer Wrestling
  • Team Roping
  • Barrel Racing
  • Bull Riding

In order to inculcate the love of rodeo in the future generation, the following two events will also be held for young children:

  • Mutton Busting
  • Jr. Barrel Racing

So, whether you want to come and watch with your family or give your kids a taste of the rodeo lifestyle, you can do it all.

Rodeo Jam

A constant of Poway’s Rodeo scene is the Rodeo jam. This is a dance for the adults to take that pumped up energy from witnessing the rodeo spectacle and unleash it in a healthy and fun way.

Who knows, you might even find the perfect someone for the rest of your life? So, giddy-up and get down on the dance floor.

So You Think You Can Sing IX

Any good rodeo event worth its salt is incomplete without an opportunity to exhibit your singing voice and musical talent.

Poway has been holding this singing competition in the run-up to the Poway Rodeo for 8 installments now. This year, we are proud to host the 9th installment of the greatest singing competition of all time. The finals will be held in the kickoff and opening to the Poway Rodeo 2019 so if you think you have what it takes to sing in front of thousands, then sign up now.

Charities

Rodeo has always been about celebrating and giving back to the community and Poway Rodeo does not fall behind in living up to that tradition.

Poway Rodeo partners with and contributes to a lot of local charities like FFA, CHSRA, and therapeutic riding centers which impact many people with their work.
