As many cowboys and cowgirls who are fans of rodeos know, there is much more to a rodeo than simply great action. This is especially true when it comes to the 2017 Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo, which is scheduled for June 28-July 4 at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds in Prescott, Arizona. Billed as “The World’s Oldest Rodeo,” the Prescott Rodeo is known not only for its great rodeo action, but also for its great community outreach.

Rodeo History

Held annually since 1888, the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo has a variety of events that keep fans on the edge of their seats, including:

  • Bareback Bronc Riding
  • Bull Riding
  • Steer Wrestling

Having had numerous competitors come through since its inception, this rodeo is one that has been the catalyst for future champions. Because of this, fans know that when they’re watching the action, they’re seeing many of tomorrow’s champions today.

Frontier Days Charities

Along with its great action, this rodeo is affiliated with a number of local charities. Among them are the local Kiwanis organization, which includes the famous Kiwanis auction that’s always a great fundraiser. Other charities in which the Prescott Rodeo helps include:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Cancer Research Center at Yavapai Regional Medical Center
  • Local High School Rodeo Programs

To show just how much this rodeo cares about the community, it donates $3,000 worth of gift cards to the local Cancer Association, which helps patients get to and from appointments and treatment sessions.

Wrangler Charities

Along with the local Kiwanis organization, Wrangler also raises tremendous amounts of money for a variety of charities. These include the military charity America’s 300, the Tough Enough to Wear Pink charity, and the Protect Our West program from Coors. Holding an annual dinner for Tough Enough to Wear Pink, Wrangler ensures that all fans who attend the rodeo do their part in helping to beat cancer.
