Professional Athletes Helping Others with Sleep Apnea Condition

Written by

Did you know that sleep apnea is a chronic disorder that affects more than 12 million people in the United States alone and if left untreated, the condition can get worse over time and even become life threatening? Many people are not aware that they have sleep apnea and the ones with severe sleep apnea suffer from episodes every thirty seconds a night. Those with sleep apnea may experience everything from loud snoring, lack of energy, daytime sleepiness, headaches, slower metabolism, heart problems, and of course, not breathing during sleep.
Ongoing research continues around the world to help find treatment for sleep apnea. One organization, dedicated to helping find treatment, is the Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA). PPHA was originally formed to help former NFL players with sleep apnea by providing testing and treatment options. Now, they want to reach out to the athletes and fans of the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, who might suffer from sleep apnea as well. Through education, building awareness, home testing, and treatment options, everyone can benefit from what the Pro Player’s Health Alliance has to offer.

player in particular, Mark Walczak, played tight end for five seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Phoenix Cardinals and San Diego Chargers. He suffered from sleep apnea for many years and found relief through some of the treatments you will find on the Pro Player’s Health website here. Since being retired from the NFL, Walczak has made it his goal to help other professional athletes and the general public across the country get treatment for sleep apnea.
Along with dental icon, David Gergen, and Pro Player Health Alliance, Mark Walczak has helped over 150 former players find successful sleep apnea treatment by building awareness through free events in communities throughout the country.
Effective treatment of sleep apnea has been shown to help alleviate the symptoms of sleep apnea, which can lead directly to better health both physically and mentally. If you think you or someone you know might have sleep apnea, help make a better life or even save the life of yourself, family member, or a friend by visiting the pro player’s website to check out home testing kits, treatment options, testimonials, and more information on the condition.
