Come April 8-9, 2016, every cowboy and cowgirl will be in Lauderdale, Mississippi, for the Semi-Annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo. One of the nation’s biggest PRCA championship rodeo shows, this event is the brainchild of Stace Smith. Smith and the Smith Pro Rodeos organization are noted for producing more PRCA rodeos than all the other stock contractors in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association stable. Since 2006, Smith Pro Rodeos has been the recipient of multiple nominations in all four categories of the PRCA Rodeo of the Year award. For the last nine straight years, Smith has taken home the PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year award.
Accolades notwithstanding, Smith Pro Rodeos is committed to producing one-of-a-kind rodeo experiences for every cowboy, cowgirl and cowkid while promoting a rugged lifestyle that’s kept this country afloat for centuries. That means an event featuring top livestock alongside superstars and up-and-comers looking to angle themselves a slot at the Wrangler National Finals in Las Vegas.
The audience comes from all over, knowing PRCA rodeos mean good food, music, entertainment and fun for every member of the family. Expect all sorts of PRCA Championship Rodeo action when the Semi-Annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo comes to Lauderdale. There will be competitions in bareback riding, tie down roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and bull riding with every cowboy and cowgirl putting their all into the pot.
In one form or another, the Semi-Annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo has been around almost eight decades. Mike Mathis has been the event’s announcer for over 20 years and he plans to keep coming back because, like all its fans, he loves what the event represents and how it brings families together.
For the unfortunate that may not be able to be in Mississippi come April, rest assured you’re covered. Expect the media teams of the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, Ak-Chin Indian Community and Earnhardt Auto Centers Road Team to be on-site for every gripping moment and getting the news to everyone that wants it. Like the Smith Pro Rodeos and the PRCA Championship Rodeo, these associations have devoted themselves to keeping these sports and the culture behind them alive through a broad range of events, programs, shows and communication.
You’ll be immersed in a culture that embraces the Western way of life. They call it “The Greatest Show on Dirt.” And you’re going to see why when the 2016 Semi-Annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo pulls into Lauderdale in April.
