In November, Ram began rolling out its Built to Serve truck models for 2020. The Built to Serve initiative recognizes those who are serving or have served in each branch of the military, and also encourages community volunteering. Learn more about this vehicle and initiate at any Earnhardt Auto Centers dealership, including Earnhardt RAM in Gilbert and Rodeo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Queen Creek.
Each military branch — Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard — will be recognized with a specific Built To Serve RAM 1500 model in one of two specific colors, says an article in Motor 1. RAM plans to roll out the different special edition vehicles every three months, with the first debut near Veterans Day 2019. Unique colors for these editions include Gator, Diamond Black, Ceramic Gray, Patriot Blue, Anvil, Billet Silver, Tank, Flame Red, Spitfire and Bright White.
Built to Serve commemorative-edition features will be available on all RAM body styles and powertrains, according to a review in Car and Driver. These include the U.S. flag and Built to Serve decal on the rear quarter-panels. Other special features include black grille, surround, bumpers, badges, side steps and dual four-inch exhaust tips. The trucks also sport Technical Gray 20-inch aluminum wheels and body-color wheel flares. Inside, each vehicle has armed forces-inspired details, including Velcro surfaces for owners to apply patches to personalize their vehicles.
These models will also offer off-road-ready features like all-terrain tires, an electronic-locking rear axle, hill-descent control, front suspension skid plate, steering gear skid plate, fuel tank skid plate, transfer case skid plate, tow hooks and heavy-duty off-road-calibrated front and rear shock absorbers, according to a review by Garber Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Michigan.
The Built to Serve trucks are part of Ram’s national volunteer initiative called Ram Nation. It encourages grassroots volunteer events with the goal to reach 1.3 million volunteer hours of service nationwide by Veteran’s Day 2020.
