If you want to know where weird meets western, get ready for the Rodeo Austin 2016 in the Lone Star State, taking place between March 12 and March 26.
Cowboys and cowgirls have been gathering for this event since 1938, when it started out as a stock show with animals.
It has since become one of the most anticipated events in Texas, preserving a heritage and rustic lifestyle that includes team roping, mutton bustin’, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, live music, a livestock show.
Rodeo Austin puts the Lone Star State at the top of premiere events for music for any cowboy or cowgirl. Over a hundred artists from around the world of music have shown up in Austin for the concert series in a single event, including Nelly, Lady Antebellum, Maroon 5, Blake Shelton and Willie Nelson. There’s also an exclusive after-hours honky-tonk every night where every cowboy and cowgirl can dance the night away with even more live music. It’s where weird meets western and where you’ll have the time of your life with music and the best team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, sheep riding, bull riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding in Texas.
Besides the rodeo and concert, another great opportunity is the fairgrounds. It features the largest carnival in Austin, promising food, shopping, games and shows for all members of the family. There’ll be dozens of games and unlimited one-day rides. There’s Kidstown, an expansive petting zoo. Take in the Wild West Show and be dazzled by roping, riding and family-friendly games. Attendees will also be able to buy everything from furniture to toys to cowboy hats and boots.
Rodeo Austin still has its traditional live animal stock show with exhibitions from all across Texas. There will be over a dozen shows with each accessible through Rodeo Austin’s live stream, RA TV. Of course, at the end of the day, it’s all about the rodeo. The best-of-the-best will compete in team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and mutton bustin’.
