Back in 1938 when it all started, Rodeo Austin was just a small livestock show with only a few animals. Over the years it has grown into a large show that now allows both the 4H and FFA members from across the state to partake. In 1950 is when the rodeo was brought in and added to the stock show and fair. Although they had a rough start, it is now not only sanctioned by the PRCA but has also become one of the top five best Pro Rodeos in America. Rodeo Austin officially became a nonprofit back in the 1980s. Its mission was to give back to the kids of Texas. The scholarship program alone has awarded over $8 million dollars to roughly 2,000 students. As well as educating students about agriculture and the importance it has in this world.
