What Rodeo Fans Should Expect at this year’s RFD-TV’s The American

Written by

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The world’s best rodeo contestants are gathering like storm clouds in Texas hoping to win at RFD-TV’s The American because when the world’s richest one-day rodeo rains paychecks, it rains millions!
Here’s how it works.
Fifteen contestants will ultimately compete in each event. The top ten from last years PBR, PRCA and WPRA final standings are automatically entered in the $1,000,000 finals on Sunday, February 25, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The five open slots will be filled with the winners of The American’s $500,000 Semi-Finals, commencing on February 22 through 24 at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth.
The semi-final contestants have gotten there in one of two ways:

  1. ‘Exemptions’ who earned their right to compete through winning their events at the Canadian Finals, College National Finals, High School National Finals, Indian National Finals, Jr. NFR, The Patriot and Better Barrel Races Finals.
  2. They’ve won their right to compete through qualifying events that are open to hopefuls across the U.S. and Canada.

Winning contestants going through to the finals from the semis are known as Qualifiers and are exclusively eligible for the $1,000,000 bonus side pot. Former world champions, bull rider J.B. Mauney and bronc rider Wade Sundell, are trying to work their way through the semis to The American this year.
