Gearing up for some of the finest rodeo action in the state of New Mexico, Rodeo de Santa Fe is returning to its regular June schedule. This event brings some of the biggest names in rodeo with a small-town feeling, and it’s sure to be great fun for the entire family!
With this year being the 73rd Annual Rodeo de Santa Fe, the event has roots that run deep and make for strong traditions. In 1949, a handful of cowboys, including Roy Butler, Austin “Slim” Green, Gene Petchesky, Paul Ragle, and Paul Rutledge, had a dream to produce a professional rodeo in the small town of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Since then, it has grown to be one of the top 60 PRCA rodeos in the nation bringing in nearly 500 contestants.
Each year, the event brings in, not only the top competitors but the top stock contractors, specialty acts, barrel men, sound men, and announcers. This year’s contract lineup includes Trick Rider Bethany Iles; Bullfighters Cauy Kraut, Luke Kraut, and Kyle O’Hair; Trick Roper Rider Kiesner; Rodeo Announcer James Horcasitas; and the Harry Vold Rodeo Company.
In 2021, the event was held in September rather than June. The 2021 champions include Paden Bray, Cole Franks, Bridger Anderson, Cody Snow, Wesley Thorp, Shorty Garrett, Jake Pratt, Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, and Scottie Knapp.
Taking place June 22-25, Rodeo de Santa Fe’s performances start at 7:00 p.m. each night. However, gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and mutton busting will start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the 22, is First Responders Night; Wednesday, the 23, is Military Night; Thursday, the 24, is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night; and Friday, the 25, is Lithia/RAM and Crown Royal Night.
In addition to the excitement taking place in the arena, there will be a carnival, midway, concessions, vendors, and beer/wine available in all seating areas. The rodeo is also located just minutes away from downtown Santa Fe.
Tickets can be purchased online at rodeoticket.com, or by calling either (505) 471-4300 or (505) 471-4493. General admission is all open seating, and those tickets can be purchased for $17, or $10 for children 10 and under or adults 65 and older.
Grandstand and chute area tickets cost $22, and reserved chair back tickets are $27. You can find yourself in a box seat for $37/ticket, or you can purchase 4 box seats for $148. Children 2 and under get in free.
Both Coors and Wrangler are proud sponsors of this event and all it does to promote the cowboy lifestyle! We at Cowboy Lifestyle Network hope that you will make it out to Santa Fe to support your favorite big names in rodeo. For more information about Rodeo de Santa Fe, visit https://rodeodesantafe.org/.
