Nestled along the beautiful Sacramento River, a California community rich in agricultural history turned a humble rodeo dream into a reality in the 1940s when John Balma of the Redding, California Sheriff’s Posse sought to celebrate his love of rodeo while showcasing the past, present, and future of his cherished community. Through Balma’s passionate advocacy, the dedication of Redding’s residents, and the establishment of the Redding Rodeo Association, the Redding Rodeo came to life.
