Under the bright lights of the historic Redding Rodeo Arena, a dream blossomed. 22-year-old Sashelle Mitchell, a true Redding local, captured the 2025 Miss Redding Rodeo title on October 12th. It wasn’t just a competition; it was a display of her lifelong passion for rodeo, evident in her effortless horsemanship and genuine connection with the judges. Imagine the years of dedication, the countless hours spent practicing, all culminating in this moment. Now, she’ll inspire us all, riding her beloved Palomino, Honey, as she promotes the 77th Redding Rodeo. A dedicated employee of the City of Redding’s Animal Regulation, Sashelle embodies the spirit of the community, proving that dreams, with hard work and heart, truly do come true.
Inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2016, the Redding Rodeo Committee is dedicated to delivering top-notch professional rodeo action while honoring Northern California’s rich ranching and agricultural heritage. The Redding Rodeo traces its origins to local legend Sheriff John Balma. After returning from military service in the 1940s, Balma, along with his associates, sought to celebrate their beloved community. As a member of the sheriff’s posse and eventual Chief of Police, Balma, alongside many other law enforcement officers, worked tirelessly to establish the 6 Pac Rodeo group, which comprises six major rodeos in California, including the Redding Rodeo!
Special thank you to all of Redding Rodeo sponsors for making this event possible. Saddle up, grab yourself a cold one, and join us for a celebration in beautiful Redding, California.
