Sheridan, Wyoming, it’s time to get WYO’d! The Sheridan WYO Rodeo is kicking off on July 14-17th. The rodeo launched in 1931 and is one of the top rodeo events in the United States. It is known to some people as Sheridan’s homecoming because not only do locals gather but visitors come from all over the nation every year to celebrate this exhilarating rodeo event.
The Sheridan WYO Rodeo is one of the elite rodeos of the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuits. This rodeo spectacular is known for showcasing world champions as well as beginners that will be competing back-to-back.
The fastest 12 contestants will move forward to the evening’s performance during each morning’s slack, allowing you to see the top contestants each night. The remaining contestants will compete during the day for their second run. There will be a potential Sheridan WYO Rodeo event winner any given night.
All rodeo athletes including humans and animals will have the opportunity to perform in four action-packed rodeo performances that are highlighted by the World Championship Relay Races. Horses have made such an impact on life on the Great Plains. Today, horses endure as a representation of tradition, magnificence, and healing for Native Americans. Indian Relay Racing is a way for teams to compete for $50,000 in cash and prizes. The teams consist of one rider, three horses, two holders, and a mugger.
