Short Film "The Bulldogger": Luke Branquinho

Written by

Just a couple weeks ago, a short film produced by YETI Coolers debuted for the first time during the 2015 National Wrangler Finals week in Las Vegas, Nevada. This short film, titled “The Bulldogger” is a brief video depicting the life and character of Luke Branquinho, the five-time winning steer wrestling champion from Las Alamos, California. Everyone knows that no rodeo cowboy wins championships five times without real dedication and hard work. People also knew that Luke would be a superstar at a young age, but it is now that the world truly knows this cowboy is a force with which you should not reckon.

You will see in “The Bulldogger” that Luke Branquinho was a hunter and farmer beginning at the early age of seven years old. Luke hunted hogs, squirrels, and all sorts of animals and still believes that his love for the outdoors is who he is, and there is nothing that can change that fact. Ranching and farming have been in his blood as far as nine generations ago and is a tradition he plans on passing down for many more. Luke began entering junior rodeos as soon as the boy was big enough and admits that it was fear that made him the successful champion he is today. Luke has suffered countless injuries during his career but like the man he is, each time Luke gets hurt, it only makes him more determined.

Luke Branquinho also enjoys life and believes in having fun. He can be a bit of a prankster at times but always remains calm and collected. Luke has had quite the career in steer wrestling, seeming invincible at times. It’s not a question as to whether he will win another championship, but more as to how many. As a committed and hard-working hunter, farmer, father, husband, and bull-dogger, Luke Branquinho is a genuine cowboy. When he’s not rodeoing, he’s ranching. He hopes to continue in his grandfather’s footsteps and raise his children with the same knowledge. There is one thing we know, no matter what, Luke always gets it done.
