The PHX3on3 Tournament, presented by the Ak-Chin Indian Community, takes to the streets of downtown Phoenix April 29 & 30. This popular tournament is open to players of all experience levels, ages, and genders.
Teams of at least three players, with a maximum of four, take to the courts for friendly competition against other teams of similar ages and heights. Game play happens on the streets surrounding the Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix. Teams are scheduled to play at least three games over the weekend, possibly more depending on their win-loss records.
Tournament divisions include wheelchair, youth, teen, adult, and elite. In the wheelchair, youth, teen, and adult divisions, games are scheduled against other teams of comparable age, height, and team experience levels. Male and female players can play together on teams in all categories except for elite. The elite division pits competitive, gender-specific teams that are bracketed without regard to age, height, or experience.
Every registered player receives a commemorative T-shirt. The champion and runner-up teams in each bracket are awarded prizes, and the winning team in both the men’s and women’s elite category receive a team cash prize of $2,000.

While the tournament offers thrilling play and competition, it isn’t just for the players. Spectators can enjoy live entertainment, food, skill contests, a slam-dunk exhibition, and guest appearances by well-known athletes, including retired NBA player Tom Chambers. Chambers played from 1981 to 1997, including a tenure as Phoenix Suns forward from 1988 to 1993. Don’t miss Tom, he will be at Ak-Chin Center Court on Saturday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sign autographs for the fans and will be assisting with the judging of the slam dunk contest.
In 2016, 10 Ak-Chin Indian Community teams participated in the youth, teen, adult and co-ed categories. The Thunder team won their bracket for the youth/teen category, Make It Drizzle won their bracket in the adult male division, and Alumni 2.0 placed second in their bracket among adult females.
