The Miss Rodeo America pageant is right around the corner. Rodeo queens from across the country are home preparing to make this big event come alive. In the end, there will only be one state queen to take home the coveted Miss Rodeo America title.
The competition is a week long and held in conjunction with the Wrangler National finals rodeo. There are many events and appearances that the girls are judged on. The contestant that has the most points in Horsemanship, Appearance and Personality will be the winner.
A rodeo queen is a tough job that requires skills such as public speaking, advanced horsemen knowledge, technique and the ability to entertain, understand and promote rodeo as a whole.
When you think of a rodeo, the last thing you imagine is glamour under all the dirt and grit, but a rodeo queen posses poise, grace, and professionalism with a touch of sparkle that really glam’s up the entertainment aspect of a rodeo. The fans love to see a cowgirl all dazzled out and bringing excitement to the show.
Little does the audience ever know that the queen is one of the hardest working personnel there. She was up at 5am preparing for a full day of meetings, school visits, video shoots, promotional and sponsor appearances. She is always the first to arrive at the rodeo and the last to leave. The next day, she wakes up to do it all over again.
A rodeo just wouldn’t be the same without a rodeo queen. She is the icing on the cake. So as you can imagine the Miss Rodeo America pageant has so many variables because professional rodeo needs the perfect girl to represent the unique sport of rodeo.
