Sorting is and event where two mounted riders enter a “figure 8” like arena. On one side of the arena there are 10 cattle with numbers 0-9 on their backs. As one rider crosses the time line, the cattle as to which they need to cut out is announced. The riders then switch from “holding the whole” between the two sides of the arena, and cutting out the cows. They must sort them in numerical order. It is also known as Sorting Horses.
