The time is now to saddle up and come show your support on October 9th, 2021 for the Split Reins Trail Ride in Del Rio, Texas. This will be the first annual event to honor and show support for the United States Border Patrol Horse Patrol. All ages are welcome, bring your family and friends, come show support and have a great time for this positive event. All forms of transportation are welcome including horses, automobiles, motorcycles, UTV’s, ATV’s or you can even walk the route. Please wear green if you have it.
There will be ZERO tolerance for negative, partisan, and inflammatory statements as this is not a political event whatsoever. You’re allowed to bring a flag but they are limited to the USA flag, state flags, USBP flag, and first responder flags. Absolutely no political chants, this is NOT a protest. The time is now to put our differences aside, to come together, unite, and show our love and support for our USBP.
The event starts at 10:00 am off of HWY 90 East by Laughlin Air Force Base. Parking is free, there will be an approximately 500-acre field where you can safely pull off of the highway to unload your horses and trailers. You are more than welcome to camp there overnight after the event but you must be self-sufficient as there are no hook-ups. Drinking water will be provided and there will be portable restrooms spread throughout the starting point, through the trail ride, and at the ending location.
The trail ride is about 12 miles long and should take a couple of hours to get to the ending point. There will be water stations along the route for horses. Along the trail, you will pass by the Border Patrol headquarters. The trail ride will end at some soccer fields across from the Walmart Supercenter in Del Rio, TX for a meet & greet. The Walmart address is 2410 Dodson Ave, Del Rio, TX 78840. The lot is 100 acres, there will be plenty of room for everyone. Food and water will be provided at the meet and greet.
Miguel Zuniga is a general contractor and is very involved in his community. He had an idea for this event and wanted to show some love and support to the USBP. Miguel has been seeing the challenges happening in the Del Rio, TX area and personally knows a few USBP agents and their families, he’s seen how things are affecting them and the challenges they face. The USBP has an important job, they risk their lives to help protect our nation and they have a lot on their plate, including long hours. Miguel realized the time is now more than ever that we need to unite and show the United States Border Patrol how much we appreciate them by showing them our love and support. Miguel took the reins and started planning this special event in making it come to life. PBR bullfighter, Shorty Gorham, and commercial realtor also co-founder of U.S. Navy Seal Danny Dietz Memorial Classic, Danny Quinlan also wanted to show support and put an event together for the USBP. They found out that Miguel had already started planning this event so all three guys decided to come together. Shorty and Danny have been helping Miguel in any way they can to help bring light to this event.

This event is not about profit or politics. These guys have taken their time out to show support, kindness, and to say thank you to the USBP. Monetary donations for drinking water and supplies are accepted by Cash App: $dazuni (Daisy Zuniga). This is a free event open to the public. We hope you join Miguel, Shorty, and Danny on October 9th in showing up and showing your support for the USBP Horse Patrol at the Split Reins Trail Ride.
“It’s not only the agents involved themselves personally but it’s their family and their children. You know we just need to show their support and keep them motivated and let them know they’re not alone out here.”
Miguel Zuniga
“We all know and see what you guys do day in and day out down here and we’re here for you.”
Shorty Gorham
“We’re here to say thank you, we respect the job you are doing in a tough situation and you’re not alone in this. America is backing you and we’re backing you.”
Danny Quinlan
