Rich Western History
Dating back to 1951, the World Famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale has long embodied the Western way of life and traditional cowboy culture, maintaining its original spirit even as it has grown over time. What began as a three-day bucking horse sale has expanded into a multi-weekend May celebration, culminating in a four-day main event during the third weekend, featuring pari-mutuel horse racing, live concerts, mutton busting, futurity-style bucking horse contests, wild horse races, and the signature auction of bucking horses.
The event also includes a large Western trade show and highlights two premier PRCA Match Bronc rides: a Friday showcase of rising saddle bronc riders and a Sunday Xtreme Broncs event featuring the top 32 riders in the world competing on elite stock for a share of $75,000 in prize money.

Pendleton Whisky Kick Off Concert – May 14
Come for the horses, stay for the live entertainment! If you’re looking for a concert experience that’s up close and personal, check out the Party Pit – right in front of the stage, you will be right in the action! A limited number of tickets are available, so don’t miss out!
Kenny Feidler is kicking off the evening with his signature sound that’s Western and Rock N Roll, conjured up with thoughtful, honest songwriting. What makes him unique is his love of the West, saying, “I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and I always felt sort of homesick for somewhere out West. I wanted to be a cowboy since I was little, and rodeo was my way into that world. After getting a hold of some Chris Ledoux CDs, I started riding bareback horses and rodeoed for about 15 years. It was everything to me for a long time, and because I didn’t grow up in it, I feel like I really soaked it all in, appreciated those moments, and wrote about them in my songs.”

Corb Lund is the next act to take the stage, and he’s as authentic as they come! The rural Albertan hails from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with a long family lineage of ranchers and rodeo people. The western Canadian singer-songwriter seamlessly weaves between the outlaw country, Western, and indie-folk realms with an honest curiosity and rowdy devotion to each. He was raised with the tried and true DIY sentiment of “if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself,” launching his career recording in his basement, printing his own shirts, booking his own tours, being his own manager and publicist… whatever it took to get it done.

Rounding out the night is country music icon Trace Adkins. In his storied career, he has sold over 11 MILLION albums, charted 40 singles on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart, earned numerous awards, multiple GRAMMY nominations, and garnered over 2 BILLION streams. A Grand Ole Opry member for two decades, the Louisiana native is known for his dynamic baritone, fiery live performance, and notable roles as an actor in film and TV.

Planning a trip to Montana or dreaming of an authentic Western escape? Be sure to put the Miles City Bucking Horse Sale on your list. It’s one of the best ways to experience the energy, heritage, and time-honored traditions that define Montana’s rodeo culture – all in one unforgettable event.
