The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will start a new chapter this year with the 2022 PBR World Finals by moving bull riding’s most prestigious event to the spring instead of the fall and returning to Texas.
The inaugural PBR World Finals was hosted in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. In 1999, the event was moved within Las Vegas to the Thomas & Mack Center, where it was held until 2015. The PBR moved the event to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in 2016. The 2020 PBR World Finals was held in Arlington at AT&T Stadium due to the pandemic. In 2021, T-Mobile Arena hosted the PBR World Finals again. The event has typically always wrapped up the season in November.
The 2022 event brings about great change for bull riders and bull riding fans. In August 2021, PBR CEO Sean Gleason, along with several Fort Worth and Tarrant County officials, announced that the PBR World Finals was to be moved to Dickies Arena in Fort Worth following the conclusion of the 2021 event held Nov. 3-7. With new PBR World Finals dates, the season now takes place from January through May. This year’s event will be held May 13-22. The first three rounds will be held May 13-15, and the final five rounds will take place May 19-22.
In addition to the PBR World Finals, there will be other various activities and entertainment in Fort Worth. Some of these events include the PBR Cowboy Experience, Flint Rasmussen’s Outside The Barrel, and live music from artists like Charley Crockett, Travis Tritt, Leann Rimes, and Robert Earl Keen. A full schedule can be found at https://www.fortworth.com/pbr/schedule/.
The top 10 bull riders in the world going into the finals are Joao Ricardo Vieira, Daylon Swearingen, Kaique Pacheco, Jose Vitor Leme, Kyler Oliver, Mauricio Gulla Moreira, Dalton Kasel, Austin Richardson, Luciano De Castro, and Eli Vastbinder. The top two riders competing for Rookie of the Year are Bob Mitchell and Clayton Sellars. With hot competition amongst riders and great bucking bulls, the 2022 PBR World Finals is sure to bring action-packed nights to Fort Worth.
The PBR’s host hotels for the event include Hyatt Place TCU, Omni Fort Worth, and Sheraton Fort Worth Downtown. When staying in Fort Worth, there is plenty of restaurants and shopping to check out.
