The Road to the 2026 PBR Teams Season Begins

Since its start in 1992, Professional Bull Riding (PBR) has grown from a bold idea shared by 20 riders into one of the most-watched sports in the world. What began as a breakaway from traditional rodeo has evolved into a global phenomenon, complete with packed arenas, international talent, and a dedicated league system that mirrors major team sports. Now, as the 2026 PBR Teams season approaches, the excitement begins long before the first gate cracks open in July.

The Draft: Where the Season Truly Starts

Before the teams hit the dirt, the first major milestone of the year is the PBR Teams Draft. This is where coaches and team managers build their rosters, scout rising talent, and build a foundation that can define an entire season. The draft isn’t just a formality, but an opportunity for new careers to begin, a chance for veteran riders to find fresh opportunities, and for every team to sets its strategy for the months ahead.

Scouting the Next Generation

This year’s buildup began with the PBR Teams Combine in Floreal, São Paulo, Brazil, one of the richest bull riding talent pools in the world. Held at Jovens Touros, Brazil’s premier bull riding arena, the combine brought together all 10 PBR Teams for a high‑intensity scouting event.

Following the success of the first combine in early 2025, this second gathering drew 49 Brazilian riders, each hoping to earn a coveted team spot. After a demanding series of outs and evaluations, 26 riders secured their place on PBR Teams rosters, marking a major infusion of international talent heading into the 2026 season.

A New Season Rides In

With the draft complete and rosters taking shape, all eyes now turn to July, when the 2026 PBR Teams League officially kicks off. Ten teams will hit the road for another season of legendary matchups, dramatic rides, and the kind of athletic grit that has made PBR a global force.
