Top Five Things You Can Do With Your Dog

Written by

1. Go on a Walking Tour of Your City

Most of us that are dog owners can’t say the “W” word without our pups losing it before we even get the leashes out. Walks should be fun for you to but how do you make walking more exciting? How about exploring your own town or a new town/city? It can be educational, insightful and adventurous all wrapped into one fun doggy outing. Who knows what you’ll discover; you may find a wonderful coffee shop you never knew existed or a new doggy hang out. Be a tourist and take your camera to snap some pictures along the way and take some selfies with your dog too!

2. Go Camping

Camping with your dog is a fun way to get outdoors and enjoy quality time with your pooch outside the home. Just make sure the campsite you plan on visiting is a dog-friendly campground – there are loads around! If you are worried about your dog while you are camping we highly recommend a portable kennel, like the one available from Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment. If camping isn’t really your jam, then you can always have a staycation in a cute B&B closer to home. There are plenty of hotels and B&Bs which allow dogs. Rural and seaside locations are great environments for your dogs to explore!

3. Host a Dog Party

Who doesn’t love a good dog party? Now, this doesn’t need to be what you are envisioning, but it is really important for our dogs to be around other dogs. When I throw a dog party, it is usually just some of my friends, coming over with their pups and we let them play until they drop. This is ideal for someone with a large yard or access to one so all the doggos can get to know each other in their own space.

4. Take Your Pup to the Lake

If you have a high energy doggo then this option is perfect for you! Although, I know plenty of large and smaller dogs that also enjoy playing in the lake. Most lakes have “on-leash” rules, but it’s pretty easy to find a spot tucked away that gives your dog some space to run around and enjoy the scenery. Taking them to the lake is a perfect opportunity to introduce them to water if they have never been. Check out this article on how to introduce your pooch to water.

4. Enter Your Dog in A Contest

There are always contests going on for your dogs, ranging in costume contests to agility contests but what about a photo contest? Nutrena is hosting a contest where all you have to do is upload a picture of your pooch by 11:59 pm every Sunday for a chance to win. Each submission also counts as an entry for our fabulous grand prize pack valued at $2,800, including a year’s worth of Loyall Life dog food. The grand-prize winner will be announced on June 12. There are several different prizes, including a MyPillow dog bed and a Tarter Kennel! If you have ever wanted to enter your pup in a contest, now is the best time to do it. Head on over to their website and follow the directions, easy as 1-2-3!
