As we go into winter this is the season where we get drastic temperature changes, warm days and cold nights. When this happens, some horses tend to stop drinking water for short periods of time. If they are on a modestly or low digestible hay, the hay in the hind gut begins to form a dry mass because of a lack of water. If feeding Total Equine horses tend to stay hydrated better during cold weather and especially during temperature changes. This helps prevent a dry mass forming and impaction colic. Also, another way to help hydration is drop a handful of Total Equine in a water bucket.
