The first rodeo featured cowboys and cowgirls competing in a number of events. By 1938, lights were added to the fairgrounds enabling Walla Wall to host the “Greatest Night Rodeo on Earth.”
In 1948, the Big 4 Rodeo Association was founded. The organization consists of the Horse Heaven Round Up Rodeo, the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days Rodeo, the Lewiston Roundup and the Pendleton Round-Up. Competitors amassing the most combined points from all four rodeos walks away with a cash prize and the specially crafted Stoney Saddlery saddle, which boasts the Big 4 Rodeos logo.
