Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo 2018

Written by

Having started in 1866, the Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo is going to be back again this year from the 29th of August to the 2nd of September. This is one of the most exciting and fun-filled events of the year in the region. The Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo will take place at the fairgrounds for all Western sports fans to see. The event is one of the most favorite events from all the PRCA lineup of events for the traditional Western sport of rodeo.

Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo

Other than the annual festivities that happen in the fair, the Walla Walla management team started the rodeo events back in 1913 to make things a lot more interesting for the fair-goers. The first ever rodeo at the Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo Festival was a big hit. It featured cowboys and cowgirls from all over the nation, who competed in an array of rodeo competitions. After the lights were added to the fairgrounds in 1938, the venue was able to host the “Greatest Night Rodeo on Earth”.
The Big 4 Rodeo Association was founded in 1948, and Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo became a part of it as well. Along with the Lewiston Roundup, The Pendleton Roundup, and the Horse Heaven Roundup, this became one of the premier rodeo sensations in the world. It brought together all the sports from the traditional Western era. The riders who amassed the highest number of points from all the four rodeos would be crowned the ultimate winner of the competition.

Charities

With such a huge turn up of people and a large fan base throughout the world, the Walla Walla Frontier Days Festival and Rodeo has been at the forefront for charity. A lot of the proceeds from the event go to charity organizations. There is extensive work being done to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Athletes and spectators are all encouraged to wear pink on the Tough Enough to Wear Pink event. The Walla Walla management team also prides itself on the fact that it’s a partner of the Providence St. Mary Foundation.

Additional Events

To provide entertainment for all, the events of the Walla Walla Frontier Days Festival and Rodeo are never without the additional events. With several performances from the topmost country musicians and parades, the Walla Walla Frontier Days Rodeo is a treat for those witnessing the event live, and for those watching on TV.
