The Waste Management Open is one of the most popular golf tournaments in the world. During the tournament, players will compete for a purse of $20 million, with the winner taking home $3.6 million. A total of 132 players will compete in the tournament, and the top 70 players on the leaderboard after the third round will make the cut for the final round on Sunday. The WM Phoenix Open and the tournament host Thunderbirds raise money for Arizona charities, most of which provide programs that benefit youth. Recent beneficiaries include First Tee of Phoenix, Fresh Start Woman’s Foundation, Human Services Campus, Special Olympics Arizona, and Valley Youth Theatre. The 2022 WM Phoenix Open raised nearly $10.5 million for charity and The Thunderbirds have raised more than $176 million in the tournament’s 87-year history.
