Rodeo is at the heart of Cheyenne and 2025 was no exception. With the 2025 Cheyenne Frontier Days and Hell on Wheels Rodeo Tour in full swing, thousands of fans from around the world joined together for a taste of true Americana. On August 23rd, Hell on Wheels held its fifth event, featuring The American Rodeo Qualifier, giving athletes a shot at competing in one of the world’s richest rodeos in May 2026.

With the holiday season right around the corner, Visit Cheyenne is thrilled to invite visitors to embrace the warmth and wonder of the west. Dazzling lights, seasonal activities, and a warm welcoming atmosphere transform Downtown Cheyenne from cowboy country to a festive frontier! Adding their own distinctly western flair, Visit Cheyenne is proud to present the 2025 Cheyenne’s Old West Holiday extravaganza this November 27th through December 21st! Trade those cowboy boots for snow boots and let’s dive into a thrilling winter of fun!
November 27th
Kick off the festivities with Small Business Saturday, a perfect opportunity to support local shops and find unique gifts. Then experience the charm of the Mounted Marshals’ Hanging of the Wreaths, as horseback marshals adorn Capitol Avenue in timeless holiday style. Don’t miss Santa’s Old West Debut, where Santa makes his grand entrance at the close of the annual Christmas Parade, riding into the Magic City of the Plains with frontier flair.
December 6th, 13th, & 20th
Families can visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Whipple House (317 W. 15th St.), a cozy historic home perfect for sharing wish lists and snapping holiday photos. At Chronicles (1506 Thomes Ave.), children can drop their letters into Santa’s Mailbox and watch the Pony Express collect them at noon and 2PM. Every Saturday, the Kringle Ranch at The Stables on 15th Street (310 W. 15th St.) invites guests to meet Santa’s trusty horses from 10AM to 4PM. On December 6, don’t miss the spirited Running of the Santas, where participants don their best Santa gear for a lively jog and bar crawl through downtown Cheyenne.
December 21st
On December 21, Cheyenne bids a festive farewell during the Santa Send-Off at Cheyenne Airport. Families are invited to wave goodbye as Santa boards his private plane and takes to the skies, leaving behind a city filled with holiday cheer and ready to welcome Christmas Eve. This heartwarming tradition marks the close of Cheyenne’s Old West Holiday season with a joyful send-off that captures the spirit of the holidays.
Cheyenne’s holiday season continues with even more festive experiences to explore—dates to be announced soon. Visitors can step back in time at Tinsel Through Time at the Historic Governor’s Mansion, shop for unique gifts at the Depot Holiday Markets, and enjoy seasonal entertainment with Christmas performances at the Atlas Theatre and The Nutcracker Ballet. Additional highlights include Christmas Teas, the Holiday Art Walk, the 57th Annual Christmas House, and Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra’s holiday concerts. And with even more Western-themed festivities still to come, the magic of Cheyenne’s Old West Holiday is far from over.
