The Working Ranch Cowboys Association was established in Amarillo, Texas in 1995. Although this organization is not as old as others, it has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. Their mission is simple,
To promote ranching on a National and International level and to preserve the lifestyle of the working ranch cowboy.
Every year, the Working Ranch Cowboys Association sanctions rodeos in the southwest portion of the United States. Events have been and continue to be held in many states including Texas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, New Mexico, Kansas, and Colorado. Along with these states, events even make their way to Florida from time to time. This gives members in other parts of the country the chance to compete with others while also seeing live and in-person what these events have to offer.
In addition to the regular rodeos that are staged throughout the year, the World Championship Ranch Rodeo is held every November in Amarillo. It is at this event that the best of the best come to compete for the right to say that they are the champion. Unlike more traditional rodeos, the Working Ranch Cowboys Association focuses on ranch work. Some of the events include wild cow milking, team doctoring, team branding, ranch bronc riding, and team penning. Not all of these are events that you would find at a more traditional style rodeo.
The Working Ranch Cowboys Association Foundation is sponsored by the Working Ranch Cowboys Association. This organization takes great pride in offering assistance to cowboys in serious times of need. Along with this, they provide collegiate scholarships every year. Again, this is one of the many details that sets this organization apart from the rest. To go along with regular events, they work hard to ensure that all members and their families are taken care of. In today’s day and age, this is a rare sight.
Below is a current list of all the events sanctioned by the Working Ranch Cowboys Association includes Lowell Goemmer Memorial Ranch Rodeo, Green Country Classic Ranch, Maverick Ranch Rodeo, Colorado Championship Ranch Rodeo, Will Rogers Range Riders, Wild Horse Prairie Days, Santa Fe Trail Ranch Rodeo, Waurika Chamber of Commerce Ranch Rodeo, Sandhills Championship Ranch Rodeo, Ride for the Brand Championship, Upper North Platte Ranch Rodeo, OCA Ranch Rodeo, Motley Dickens Old Settler’s Rodeo, Earth Ranch Rodeo, Jackie Perkins Memorial Ranch Rodeo, Big Bend of Texas Ranch Rodeo, Texas Ranch Roundup, Yavapai County Fair Ranch Rodeo, and the WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo in November.
The Working Ranch Cowboys Association uses ranch rodeo to raise awareness of what the group has to offer while also generating money for its foundation. They are known for sanctioning some of the top rodeos across North America with the goal of bringing the top teams to the annual World Championship Ranch Rodeo, held during the second weekend of every November.
For more than 20 years, the Working Ranch Cowboys Association has been confidentially helping working ranch cowboys and their families when they need it. Over the years, the Working Ranch Cowboys Association Foundation has provided school funding support to more than 30 students. As the Foundation continues to grow, so does the number of students that are financially supported on their quest to earn a college degree. The Working Ranch Cowboys Association sanctions ranch rodeo events, while also doing their part in helping others. By combining these two details, it is easy to see why this association has received so much attention in a relatively short period of time.
