Cody Teel Bull Riding during Round 1 of the 2015 Wrangler NFR
The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) is the premier sporting event of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association (PRCA), akin to its very own super league.
Taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada it runs for consecutive 10-12 days.
Richmond Champion
This is no ordinary small scale event, to become eligible for it, cowboys and cowgirls have to compete and win in our many divisional events held in different states.
It is the grand showdown, the final event for the year of the PRCA circuit and winners are decided based on who raised the money in their particular event/area of expertise. Like in other rodeo events held by the PRCA, the Wrangler NFR awards prizes in these events tie-down roping, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling and team roping.
The NFR was inaugurated in 1958 and first held in Dallas in 1959. Over the years it was hosted at many different cities and venues until finally a monumental deal was signed in 2001 and the NFR became the Wrangler NFR.
Wrangler had signed a sponsorship deal and thus became the first title sponsor.
2016 Wrangler NFR World Champions
This event is it, the culmination and year’s worth of payoff to stories and tales of grit, fortitude, and determination. Make your way down and get the chance to witness the best of modern men and women following in the footsteps of their great ancestors in an attempt to recapture that wild western spirit again.
The WNFR is broadcasted live on CBS but there is nothing quite like taking the trip and seeing it in person, soak in the smells of bull and sweat and for 10 days get to see the best of modern cowboys and girls test it out with nature.
