[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ovaw6_2X74″ title=”1995 NFR Interview with World Champion Barrel Racer Sherry Cervi”][vc_column_text]A rodeo class act and a fundamental role in the development of barrel racing, four-time world champion Sherry Cervi from the southern Arizona town of Marana has high hopes for the 2016 rodeo season.
This past year marks an impressive 18th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) total appearances for Cervi.
The dedicated horsewoman has a talent that is so refined that it makes her barrel runs appear breathtakingly effortless and unflawed. Cervi is the type of athlete that, regardless of if you are familiar with the mechanics of the sport or not, her performances are smooth enough to give anyone a case of the goosebumps. She consistently proves to be a prime example of “quiet hands and a quiet seat” in her runs, and her success in the arena shows that the classic approach to riding is both timeless and valid.
Her 13-year-old mare MP Meter My Hay is just as much of a superstar as Cervi. Nicknamed “Stingray” and “Precious”, the quarter horse is a recipient of both AQHA Horse of the Year awards, along with the Horse with the Most Heart Award. This stunning palomino offers spectators the perfect aesthetic paired with the 6’0″ blonde cowgirl, Cervi. Although Cervi has the raw talent and dedication to turn any horse into a star, they say that success in barrel racing takes a perfect matchup between horse and rider, and it’s safe to say that Cervi has found it.
