There is no doubt that the world of rodeo is marked by a strong sense of comradery. Whether that teamwork is depicted between a cowgirl and her horse in the barrel racing arena, or displayed between a pair of team ropers chasing a steer, the teamwork portrayed by human and animal athletes alike is what propels and preserves the success of rodeo. Because of this strong sense of comradery and family across the rodeo community, when a team member is lost, the entire community gathers together to honor their legacy.
Wyatt Althoff, a beloved Arizona cowboy, lost his life August 17th, 2013 when he was involved in a boating accident on Roosevelt Lake. In 2008 Wyatt’s success continued when he was named the College National Finals Rodeo “All Around Champion.” Wyatt’s passing shocked the rodeo community.
