This is YETI Exclusive with Reata Brannaman

Written by

I am excited to be partnering up with YETI again for the next couple of months to continue sharing the stories that make up this great company. For this YETI Exclusive, I was thrilled to be able to chat with horse trainer extraordinaire, Reata Brannaman, about growing up with her dad (Buck Brannaman), what her career in horse training has been like up to this point, and of course, what it’s like to work with a brand like YETI.

Krysta: Can you tell our audience a little about yourself?

Reata: I grew up traveling with my dad assisting him in his horsemanship clinics around the world. Eventually, I began teaching the colt starting and Horsemanship program at Montana State University. When my husband and I started dating we began to build our horse program where we raise and sell ranch horses and performance prospects.

Krysta: What did growing up look like for you? What are some of your favorite memories?

Reata: We were always at some horse event or clinic! I was able to ride so many different horses and be around so many different people. Helping horses all over the world has been such an educational thing for me, it has helped me in raising my own family and learning how to not only teach people with horses but also kids.

Krysta: You really have to be in the right frame of mind when training and working with horses, especially young ones. Is there anything you do to prepare for a clinic or an afternoon working horses?

Reata: You can’t go into it with any emotions from other things going on in your life. everything has to be left on the outside. A horse can help you through a lot of those things if you let them, but you can’t hold anything on your shoulders when you approach them.

Krysta: What is your favorite thing about what you do?

Reata: Getting to help people learn about their horses and themselves.

Krysta: What is your proudest accomplishment to date?

Reata: The business and lifestyle that Gabe and I have built.

Krysta: What is the best advice you can give an aspiring horse trainer or owner?

Reata: Always ask yourself if you’re offering the best deal you possibly can.

Krysta: What has it meant to be a part of the YETI Ambassador team?

Reata: Having been on the team for some time now, it is amazing how YETI is truly a LIFESTYLE brand, something that helps our everyday life to be easier. We love the products and we love what they stand for. When you’re buying YETI you’re supporting people that are living their lives to the fullest.

That’s a wrap on this YETI Exclusive! Coming up next is an interview with Veteran PBR Rider, Reese Cates. Then stay tuned for more YETI stories releasing this summer! When you’re planning your summer adventures, make sure you have the gear to withstand anything you throw at it, and that gear should be YETI. Shop their latest collections and products below!
