Top Speed calls the latest Jetta GLI “just right.” Highlights of the 2020 model include a new multilink independent rear suspension and updated front brakes modeled after the VW Golf. Also VAQ torque-sensing limited-slip differential reduces the understeer tendencies. This feature is usually only part of the GTI performance model, according to Top Speed.

A completely revamped suspension reduced the vehicle’s height by .6 inches. The 2020 Jetta GLI is actually more aerodynamic than the smaller Golf GTI, according to Top Speed, because of the sedan shape and aerodynamics. A 2.0 liter, four-cylinder turbo-charged engine powers the Jetta, with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Choose six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed automatic.

Plenty of standard features will please car buyers. These include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, keyless access and push-button start, rain-sensing windshield wipers and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, according to Top SpeedInside, the Jetta features plenty of tech features including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with smartphone integration and 10-color ambient lighting.

The Jetta’s standard-issue Drive Mode Selection includes Normal, Sport, Eco and Custom options to help navigate different terrain and roads. To celebrate the vehicle’s 35 anniversary in the United States, Volkswagen is also releasing a limited edition Jetta GLI35. This special edition features black wheels, black roof and 35th-anniversary badging. The GLI35 also offers a fifth mode in Drive Mode Selection, says Top Speed, compared to four in the standard Jetta GLI.

Both Jetta versions should hit the market in August. If you “Gotta Getta Jetta,” as VW marketing says, Earnhardt Volkswagen and Earnhardt Auto Centers have you covered!
