2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban to offer more space, creature comforts

The 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban feature substantial redesigns for 2021. Find out more and take a test drive of either vehicle soon at any Earnhardt Auto Centers location, including Earnhardt Chevrolet in Chandler, Arizona.

The new independent rear suspension (IRS) makes for bigger cargo space and bigger third-row seats, according to a review in Car and Driver. Also, the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines are upgraded, and a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six engine is now offered, the only one available in the full-size SUV segment.

The Tahoe and Suburban swap the truck’s live axle and leaf springs for an independent rear multi-link suspension setup with coil springs, says the review, providing more room in the cargo area and in the second-and third-row seats.

Both upgrades offer plenty of room for people and gear. The 2021 Tahoe will offer 26 cubic feet of space behind the third row, up from 15 cubic feet, and 34.9 inches of third-row legroom, a 10-inch increase, says Car and Driver. The Suburban will gain 2.0 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and 2.2 inches of third-row legroom. Both new versions will offer additional space in the second row, available with a three-seat bench or two captains chairs that can slide back and forth.

The available diesel engine produces 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The base engine produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and now has a cylinder-deactivation system and an engine stop-start feature, according to Car and Driver. The more powerful 6.2-liter V8 offers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard, and rear-wheel drive will be standard with all-wheel drive optional. Towing figures have not yet been released.

Inside, tech and comfort features are sure to please. A 10-inch touchscreen comes standard and can mirror the display from an Android smartphone. Optional screens include a digital gauge cluster and dual 12.6-inch entertainment screens for passengers that can send content back and forth.
