Untamed & Unforgettable: The 2026 San Diego Rodeo

San Diego, California – The San Diego Rodeo returns to Petco Park from January 16th-18th, bringing the spirit of California’s Western culture to the heart of downtown. Now in its third annual year, this family-friendly event continues its history-making tradition as the first and only rodeo ever to take place within the iconic stadium, proudly presented by C5 Rodeo Co. and Outriders presents in partnership with the Padres.

Your Weekend Reset

You deserve a weekend that rewards your hard work and celebrates your family and friends in equal measure. Kick things off on Friday and Saturday at BeerFest, where the best local and national breweries gather in Gallagher Square to toast to your weekend. Once you’ve recharged on Sunday, lead your family into a Western-themed KidsFest paradise. Between the games and the massive inflatables, you won’t just be watching your kids play; you’ll be witnessing the exact moment a core childhood memory is made.

Modern Stakes. Timeless Soul.

The arena becomes a proving ground this January as the world’s most elite cowboys and cowgirls who put everything on the line, chasing for more than half a million dollars in prize money in a display of raw grit. Yet, the adrenaline is only half the story; this event serves as a homecoming for San Diego’s hidden soul. By weaving the breathtaking artistry of local charros into the performance, the San Diego Rodeo honors a lineage of bravery that pre-dates the city skyline, inviting spectators to stand at the intersection of high-stakes modern sport and a living history that refuses to be forgotten.

After-Party Lineup

There is a version of the West that refuses to be tamed, and you’ll find it at the after-party. This is a nightly gathering of the rebels, the outlaws, and the truth-tellers. They’ve hand-picked three heavyweights who represent the raw heart of California’s Western culture, this is a weekend you’ll never forget:

  • Friday, January 16: Charley Crockett – The maverick bringing the Texan heat to downtown.
  • Saturday, January 17: Jamey Johnson – The torchbearer carrying the flame for the legends.
  • Sunday, January 18: Cody Jinks – The unapologetic, high-octane fire of independent heavyweight.

Note: A separate ticket is required for the after-parties. Secure your tickets now.

Biography:

Howdy, I'm Megan deFabry. I grew up in Reno, Nevada, but since 2017 my heart has called Texas home. I now reside in Austin, Texas since 2020. I'm driven by my faith, cherished relationships with family and friends, and my professional ambitions. I'm passionate about digital marketing and journalism, especially the wide-open spaces of America's Western lifestyle, the grit of agriculture, the excitement of rodeo, and the heart of country music.

For nearly a decade, I've been sharing this way of life through storytelling. And like any good cowboy tale, there's a loyal sidekick, my little Dachshund, Frank, who I adopted from a shelter in New Braunfels, Texas, back in 2018. He keeps me grounded, reminding me to chase horizons and savor life's simple joys.

I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Consumer Affairs and a minor in Mass Communication. My major taught me to decode consumer behavior, which is crucial for marketing, while my minor sharpened my storytelling skills. Since then, I've spent years mastering SEO and content strategy, staying ahead in a fast-moving field. My work even caught the eye of Cowboy Lifestyle Network's CTO, Irish Padmore, who recognized me for contributing to his research on Consumer Behavior in the Age of AI.

Since 2018, I've been honored to work at Cowboy Lifestyle Network. Now as Editor-in-Chief writing, editing, and publishing articles that capture the cowboy spirit, crafting strategies rooted in Western values, and building real client connections. Guided by ethical journalism, I aim to tell stories that resonate and reflect the unsung heroes of the Western spirit.
