The NWSS, or the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, is a treasured PRCA event in Steamboat Springs, and these events begin on January 8. The Annual Cowboy Downhill is the inspiration of Billy Kidd and Larry Mahan, who decided 42 years ago that some of the top PRCA cowboy and cowgirl star would like to compete in snowboarding and skiing activities after the NWSS. The Cowboy Downhill event has been a top event ever since then. Altogether, this event typically brings in more than 100 rodeo competitors for different skiing and snowboarding activities in Steamboat. It follows an event that is part of the Wrangler Western National Patriot Tour and that supports the American 300 Foundation. At the 2015 event, the GoPro Bomb Squad also attended the festivities, and many people loved the added fun element that the GoPro Bomb Squad brought to the event.
Just as the Cowboy Lifestyle Network covers the National Western Sock Show and Rodeo, it will also cover this special event. The event takes place on Stampede on January 18. The events run all day, and there is a free concert with a guest who has not yet been announced. The concert will be held after the rodeo skiing and snowboarding events conclude. The GoPro Bomb Squad will also support this Colorado event this year.
Whether you want to continue to support the American 300 Foundation and the Wrangler Western National Patriot Tour or you want to see some of your favorite PRCA stars from the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo compete with skiing and snowboarding activities, the Cowboy Downhill is an event you do not want to miss.
You can purchase your tickets to see this event in Steamboat, and make plans to stay until the end so that you can enjoy the free concert later in the evening in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
