As we officially step into the new year, it is time to rodeo in Arizona! The 78th Annual Yuma Silver Spur Rodeo will take place February 10th, 11th, and 12th at the Yuma County Fairgrounds.
The event kicks off with the Annual Yuma Silver Spur Rodeo Parade on February 4th from 9:30am- 12:00pm. The parade once again starts on Main Street, but for full route information, you can visit the Parade page on the website for more details.
Performance number one is on February 10th and presented by “Rain for Rent”. The gates open at 2pm with Mutton Bustin starting at 4pm. This gives friends and families plenty of time to get a look at the merchandise vendors and grab a bite to eat before they get ready for the performance to kick off. This performance is Senior Appreciation Day and Man Up Crusade Day so fans and contestants are encouraged to wear purple for domestic violence awareness.
Performance number two follows on February 11th with doors opening again at 2pm. Fans can come dressed in their favorite pink outfit as they are celebrating Tough Enough To Wear Pink Night. February 12th holds the last performance of the weekend with doors opening at 12:00pm. Celebrate RAM Rodeo Day and Military Appreciation Day by proudly wearing your red, white and blue!
Fans are in for a treat with each performance as they will hear the familiar voice of Dan Fowley announcing, the Barrelman/Clown Nate “Shottgun” Reed for entertainment, and bullfighters Zach Doval and Tristan Seargeant there to keep the contestants safe.
The presenting stock contractor will be Honeycutt Rodeo. One Yuma Silver Spur Rodeos fan-favorite event is the motocross vs. barrels sponsored by Coca-Cola of Yuma, and they are bringing it back for another year! This event takes place during each of the three rodeo performances. It is limited to only eight contests per performance. Contestants will race their quad, 3-wheeler, or dirtbike around the cloverleaf barrel pattern and the fastest time wins cash prizes! If anyone is interested in competing in this event you can contact Aerika Dalton at (928) 503-3625.
