As one of the biggest and most respected rodeos in the Pacific Northwest, the Omak Stampede and Suicide Race is one event that rodeo fans across the United States look forward to attending each year. From its humble beginnings in 1933, it has grown each and every year into one of the best weekends of western entertainment anywhere in the nation. This year’s event, scheduled for August 10-13, will undoubtedly be one of the best ever. With media coverage from the Cowboy Lifestyle Network, Ak-Chin Indian Community, Earnhardt Auto Centers, and Papa John’s Road Team, fans are sure to have plenty of great interviews and videos showcasing all the action.
Special Events
As always, the Omak Stampede has plenty of exciting events for fans to enjoy. Among the most popular are:
–Davis Shows Carnival
–Western and Native Art Show
–Indian Encampment and Pow Wow
–Wrangler Kids Night
–Rodeo Dances and Vendor Row
Whether fans have one favorite event or love to experience them all, there’s no doubt this PRCA rodeo will be one to remember.
Suicide Race
Similar to just as it was way back in 1935, the Suicide Race is a highlight that fans of the Omak Stampede simply don’t want to miss. Run on a “no holds barred” course, competitors ride their horses 225 feet down a bluff to the Okanogan River, then swim or wade across and then make a mad dash of 500 yards to the finish line, which is in the center of the Stampede arena. Needless to say, this is one event that definitely gets the fan’s juices flowing.
Supporting Charities
Along with offering fans plenty of excitement, fans who attend the PRCA Omak Stampede know they will be helping a variety of charities as well. Among the most popular is the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night, which encourages everyone to wear pink in support of those fighting breast cancer. In addition to this charity, many others are also supported, including food banks and various education organizations.
Don’t Miss the Excitement
Whether it’s bull riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping, bareback riding, or any of the other events, there’s no doubt this year’s PRCA Omak Stampede and Suicide Race is poised to be the best ever. With its world-class competitors, non-stop action, and incredible array of events, the Stampede and Suicide Race will test the skills of each and every participant, ensuring fans will leave this year’s event wanting more and more.

About the Author:

Biography:

Peter Varlet’s the cowboy critic you love to hate, until he’s right. Born during a thunderstorm in 1972 in Bismarck, North Dakota, he grew up watching his WWII vet dad battle to save their farm from corporate claws. Now, Peter’s the unapologetic voice of Western culture, with a historian’s grip on America’s past, acknowledging both its heroes and hypocrites.

His truth to power articles are a no-holds-barred zone for rodeo reviews, cowboy movie takedowns, and ranching tricks that work. He’ll tell you why your country singer’s a fraud and how to fix a fence with only baling wire and spite.

Peter despises corporate factory farms taking over and cherishes the DIY grit of real Americans. Politically correct? Nope. Trustworthy? Damn straight. He’s saving the West, one brutal truth at a time.
