[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Ak-Chin Indian Community Police Department hosted its 7th annual bowling tournament on Sunday, April 22. This event benefits Special Olympics Arizona.
Ten Pins Down again provided the site for the tournament, which brings together teams of four players. Friends, family, and coworkers all joined in for a friendly, spirited competition. This year, 24 bowling teams faced off.
After regular bowling sessions, top teams moved into the championship round. Living up to their name, the team called Defending Champs took first place, followed by PT 42 in second place and Tillman’s Devils #42 in third place.
In addition to the bowling fun, a raffle raised additional funds for the Special Olympics. The raffle featured more than 75 prizes, including outdoorsman’s gear like coolers, fishing poles, and outdoor chairs. The most popular raffle item was the Yeti Cooler Ice Chest.
Special thanks go to the Ak-Chin Community Police Department for coordinating this event every year. Thanks also for the generous support of volunteers, those who donated raffle prizes, and for the participation of all teams. Ten Pins Down, the luxurious bowling venue at the UltraStar Multi-tainment Center at Ak-Chin Circle, hosts this event each year and donates space for the tournament.
Special Olympics Arizona offers recreational and competitive sports opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Several Ak-Chin Community members have family members or friends with intellectual disabilities, and each year they honor these individuals by participating in this event.
The bowling tournament continues to grow and attract more participants, volunteers, and spectators each year. If you missed it this time, make sure you come next year! There’s plenty of room for everyone! You’ll have a great time and you’ll be a part of something special![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
