Started in 1897, this rodeo has been called the “Daddy of ‘Em All.” Its championship bull riding crown is one of the most prestigious in rodeo. This PRCA event is sure to be a real winner with fans.
In the year 1897, a passenger agent for the train, Frederick W. Angier, made the suggestion to the editor of the Cheyenne Daily Sun-Leader that a festival similar to Potato Days in Greeley, Colorado, be made.
Plans began in the Tivoli Saloon, on the corner of 16th Street and Carey.
It was a great success and the following year it was scheduled for two days and included a parade. Today, Cheyenne Frontier Days is one of the world’s largest rodeos.
Some of the events and fun for families include:
- Pancake breakfast
- Art show and western art
- Old Frontier Town
- Old West Village
- Indian Village
Adult music and dancing happen at the Buckin’ A Saloon for those seeking plenty of fun.
