Introducing the Chevy electric Blazer SS

Automotive

If recent gas prices have you considering an electric car, check out Chevrolet’s upcoming all-electric Blazer SS for an affordable and stylish option. Chevrolet recently provided a preview of this vehicle, which makes its debut later in 2022. It will be available for sale nationwide, including at Earnhardt Chevrolet, in spring 2023.

This will be the first electric vehicle from Chevy with the SS performance model, says Green Car Reports in a review. Super Sport, or SS, has been a Chevy mainstay since the muscle-car era and usually corresponds to a higher level of performance.

The Blazer is one of two upcoming Chevy crossovers, with the Equinox EV also due to go on sale in 2023. GM has said the two crossover vehicles will offer affordable models, notes the review.

Details on the all-electric Chevy Blazer SS are still slim. However, reviewers expect the vehicle to ride on the General Motors Ultium platform, according to Autoweek, which also underpins the Cadillac Lyric and GMC Hummers. “WIth the SS badge on this Blazer, it’s possible this all-electric crossover eschews the single-motor option and defaults to the more expensive dual-motor layout,” notes Autoweek.

A teaser video released in early March indicates that the vehicle’s charging port will be on the driver’s side front fender, hidden underneath an apparent power-operated cover, says CNET in a review. The Blazer SS rolls on some “swanky, two-tone wheels of a multi-spoke design,” notes the review, adding that overall, electric vehicles can deliver “startling performance.”
