Surpassing an impressive 91 Million career streams on Spotify, Singer-Songwriter Mike Ryan is back with new music. His single “Can Down” was released this past Friday and was co-written by Mike, Smith Ahnquist, Brent Anderson and Will Weatherly. Captivating audiences with clever, lyrical wordplay, the song describes the fate of choosing between a refreshing six-pack or a heartache.
“Can Down” is one of three songs that Mike released during the pandemic and follows his previously released “Ghost Town,” which was featured on Apple Music’s Breaking Country Playlist and “Dear, Country Music,” which marked Mike’s sixth career #1 at Texas Radio and was featured in The Boot’s 5 Songs You Need To Know.
Mike was just a couple of recordings away from finishing his forthcoming fifth album when studios shut down in Nashville, and he had to halt some of that progress due to travel restrictions and the pandemic. With the recent reopening of businesses and venues in his home state of Texas, Mike is gearing up to be back on the road to test out some of his new music.
“Introducing tunes to a room full of people is a way to gauge which songs might be potential singles. The live shows are a chance to make a personal connection with the fans, and it’s always cool for me to see the audience learn the songs and sing along to them in-person, so I’m glad to be getting back out there again,” said Mike.
Named as an artist “with critically-acclaimed albums and singles that have been streamed millions of times…” (Fort Worth Star-Telegram), Mike’s previously released album Blink You’ll Miss It landed at #15 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart and Top 40 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart. Blink You’ll Miss It amassed 36 Million cumulative streams and yielded #1 song “Damn Good Goodbye” and Top 5 “The Rewrite” ft. Brad Paisley. Music Row called the album “Essential listening,” and Ryan was featured by SiriusXM’s “The Highway,” Pandora, and The Boot’s Artist To Watch lists. In addition, Mike Ryan marked his first-ever National TV debut performing during the 4th of July celebration at the White House, and he has appeared on “Austin City Limits Live.” As a thoughtful lyricist, vocalist and guitarist, Mike co-wrote Brad Paisley’s “Last Time For Everything,” and over the course of his career, he has built a loyal legion of fans. Mike will be back on the road again this spring with upcoming shows in Terrell, TX (4/17), Spring, TX (4/30) and Helotes, TX (5/1).
