Summer Rodeo Bucket List: Gunnison Cattlemen’s Days 2021

Earning itself the title, the “Granddaddy of Colorado Rodeos,” The Cattlemen’s Days Rodeo is ready to put on a show that is sure to “wow!” its audience as it celebrates their western heritage with three thrilling PRCA rodeo performances occurring July 15th, 16th, and 17th!

About Gunnison Cattlemen’s Days

While the rodeo has been making a splash since the 1900s when they used to run the cattle right into town, Gunnison’s weeklong rodeo celebration each July is what has put Cattlemen’s Days on the map. This year you can expect the fun to start even sooner with the fun kicking off with the Cattlemen’s Days TETWP Songwriter Shuffle on July 1st & 2nd. Then leading up to the PRCA rodeo performances, the Cattlemen’s Days rodeo celebration includes everything from 4-H shows, a local carnival, and so much more! While the real show is delivered in the rodeo arena and family fun is provided all week long, what makes Cattlemen’s Days stand out is its dedication to awareness and fundraising for one of the rodeo world’s most well-known organizations: Tough Enough to Wear Pink. Look for more on their efforts below!

About Gunnison’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink Program

Due to their extensive fundraising efforts, the Cattlemen’s Days rodeo has earned itself the honorable title as the #1 Tough Enough to Wear Pink PRCA Rodeo in America. Since 2005, Gunnison’s TETWP Program has raised an astonishing $3,742,000. With a mission stating,

“Cattlemen’s Days Tough Enough to Wear Pink is dedicated to providing local funding for breast cancer awareness, prevention, education, support, breast screenings, and equipment.”

Fundraising isn’t exclusive to just rodeo weekend or just breast cancer. Throughout the year, Gunnison County continues the fight against cancer of all kinds with a “Pink in the Rink” Women’s Hockey Tournament in October and the Grits, Guts, Gals, and The Goonies event in August, along with several other events in between. One of their newer events this summer is the Pedal for Pink Program, which will support 9-year-old Abby and her father who are biking across the US raising awareness and support for Gunnison TETWP. Their initiative is inspired by their mother and wife who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Learn more here: https://gunnisontetwp.com/events/pedal-for-pink/ Gunnison County along with TETWP also offers year-round donation options on both of their official websites. Rodeos such as Cattlemen’s Days have made a huge difference in their communities thanks to their dedication to awareness and fundraising. The collaboration between Gunnison, Colorado, and Wrangler’s, Tough Enough to Wear Pink foundation is nothing short of phenomenal. Make sure to wear your pink western shirts and enjoy all the excitement that Cattlemen’s Days has to offer!
